A Day of Piping, Community & Competition: The Ogden Indoor Games 2026

On May 2, 2026, the Foothills Caledonia Youth Pipe Band was proud to host the Ogden Indoor Highland Games, kicking off the Alberta piping and drumming competition season.

The Ogden Indoor Games have a special connection to our band and its history. Before becoming the Foothills Caledonia Youth Pipe Band, our band was known as the Ogden Legion Pipe Band, a name and legacy that remains an important part of who we are today.

The Games brought together pipers and drummers from across Alberta for a full day of competition. The morning featured individual piping and drumming events, followed by the band competitions in the afternoon.

An event like this simply wouldn't be possible without the many people who gave their time and energy to make the day a success. A huge thank you to Lloyd Martens for keeping the day moving as our MC, and to Jenn Preza for her help and support throughout the event.

A special thank you to our parent executive, and particularly Valerie Lunt and Nathan Harris-Still, for leading the planning. Our entire executive worked incredibly hard to bring the event together. There is an enormous amount of work that happens behind the scenes to host an event like this, and we are so thankful for their time, effort, and dedication in making the Games a success.

We are also incredibly grateful to all of our parent volunteers who stepped up throughout the day. From setup and cleanup to keeping everything running behind the scenes, your help made a huge difference.

Thank you as well to the Alberta Society of Pipers and Drummers, the judges, stewards, competitors and everyone who came out to support the Games. It was fantastic to see so many bands together for the first competition of the season and to welcome everyone to the Ogden Indoor Highland Games.

We were especially happy that the weather cooperated and allowed us to bring everyone together outside for Massed Bands. Hearing the pipes and drums fill the air was the perfect way to wrap up a great day of competition and celebration.

We are so proud to continue a tradition that means so much to our band.

We can't wait to do it all again next year!
